Cautious optimism about getting back into college after the disastrous Bad End of my first attempt in 2001. Tempered by bouts of deep depression and doubting whether it's even worth the time and effort to get a journalism degree given the unlikelihood of ever landing a job in the field. Then again, I'm getting paid by the government (my Pell Grant is more than my tuition), and I'm already considering getting my associate's in journalism here and then moving to the Pacific Northwest to live and continue my education for a bachelor's in advertising. Those are the two things I've wanted to do the most over my life - journalism was my first love, after I got over the childhood desire to be an astronaut (I think everyone in my generation wanted to be an astronaut when we were very young), and I started being interested in advertising work in middle school. I'm not sure how good I'd be at either - my self-confidence veers back and forth between "I'm awesome and as soon as I get a column on the op/ed page I'll set people on fire" and "I'm an idiot and there are a billion people way more skilled than me, especially in the advertising business" - but fuck it, I'm going to try.
